Sarsfields 4-11     Menlo Emmets 1-9 

Sarsfields recorded a superb 11 point win over Menlo Emmets in their first match of this years Junior A Championship played in Athenry on Friday evening. Sarsfields started brightly and scored an early goal from Johnathon Skehill, after great work from Seamus Doyle. A further goal from Skehill and one from Cyril Murray after a goalmouth scramble gave them a 3-5 to 0-2 half time lead. Menlo Emmets got a goal early in the second half to bring them back into the game but a goal from Cyril Murray and further points from Eanna Dolan, Gerard Dolan and David Connaughton ensured Sarsfields held on for a comfortable 4-11 to 1-9 victory.

The scorers for Sarsfields were Cyril Murray 2-2 (0-2 frees), Johnathon Skehill 2-1, Eanna Dolan 0-3, Gerard Dolan 0-2, Padraig Forde 0-1 (free), Cathal Kelly 0-1 and David Connaughton 0-1.

The team was Seamus Keane, Shane Dolan, Briain McLoughlin, Kevin Ward, David Connaughton, Adrian McMahon, Eamon Cleary, Gerard McMahon, Padraig Forde, Gerard Dolan, Cathal Kelly, Seamus Doyle, Eanna Dolan, Cyril Murray and Johnathon Skehill. Subs:  Cathal Kelly (Bullaun) for Kevin Ward and Rory Murray for Johnathon Skehill.
