Sarsfields 1-8    Ballindereen 1-11

Sarsfields suffered a disappointing 3 point loss to Ballindereen in their first game of this years minor championship played in Bullaun on Wednesday week. Sarsfields started brightly in the first half and a goal from Shane Callanan from a ground stroke had both teams level at 1-4 to 0-7 at half time. Things could have been even better for Sarsfields as Dylan Madden was denied what would have been a great goal by an outstanding save from the Ballindereen goalie. Ballindeereen got on top a little in the second half but points from Ian Kelly and Stephen Earls - a fabulous solo effort- seemed to have secured a victory for Sarsfields. However, a goal and a point late in the game ensured Ballindereen were victorious on a score line of 1-11 to 1-8. The scorers for Sarsfields were Stephen Earls 0-3 (0-2 frees), Shane Cannallan 1-0, Dylan Madden 0-2 (0-1 free) and Ian Kelly 0-2 and Alan Ward 0-1.

The team was Simon Madden, Gavin Cooney, Evan Earls, Willie Mulkerrins, Michael O'Donohue, Thomas Spellman, Jason McGann, Stephen Earls, Eoin Spellman, Ian Kelly, Shane Callanan, Alan Ward, Justin Cooney, Dylan Madden and Johnathon Moran. Subs: David Maher for Jason McGann and Jamie Donohue for Johnathon Moran.
