Sarsfields 0-15 Liam Mellows 0-14
Sarsfields advanced to the quarter finals of this years U21 championship with a hard fought 1 point victory over Liam Mellows, played in Athenry on Friday evening. Sarsfields started brightly and led by 0-11 to 0-7 at half time with a point from a line ball from Ivan Kenny being the highlight of the first half. Liam Mellows staged a fightback in the second half and the game looked destined for extra time, but some brilliant defending from the likes of David Connaughton, Darren Skehill and Niall Quinn meant Sarsfields held on to win on a scoreline of 0-15 to 0-14. The scorers for Sarsfields were: Niall Morrissey 0-7 (0-4 frees), Ivan Kenny 0-2 (0-1 sl), Joseph Cooney 0-2, Barry McMahon 0-1, Niall Quinn 0-1, Alan Ward 0-1 and Liam Michael Kelly 0-1.
