Sarsfields GAA Club celebrated 50 years in existence this year with a gala weekend celebration the August bank holiday weekend Friday July 29 to Sunday 31 July. The celebrations included a host of events to remember the past and present members of the club, along with their many winning teams from the past half century.

Winner of the 50th Anniversary t-shirt draw was Martina Kingsland. Congratulations Martina.

Well done to all of the 50th Anniversary team as the weekend was magic!

Friday, July 29

Events will kick off Friday 29th July 7 pm with mass for deceased members in Bullaun church, and immediately afterwards, a display of photographs and memorabilia in Bullaun Hall. Food and refreshments will be provided. That night the Harbour Bar will host a music entertainment evening provided by Fergal, Adrian and friends.

Saturday, July 30

Sarsfields golf in Loughrea Golf Club (11 am to 12 pm) - see below

Sarsfields Hurling on the Road (3:30 pm to 5:30 pm) - see below

Saturday's events will focus on Sarsfields early heroes, as presentations will be made to 1966, 1968, 1976 and 1980 hurling teams and the 1974 and 1975 East Board winning football teams, at a function in Wards Ballyfa that night at 9 pm where the special guest will be sports journalist Jim Carney.

Sunday, July 31

The weekend's celebrations will conclude on Sunday evening at a Gala Function in the New Inn Community Centre at 8 pm, where MC for the night Sean Walsh will introduce the 1993 and 1994 back to back All-Ireland winning side, along with the clubs other county champion teams from 1980 to 2015 (a time when Sarsfields won seven senior titles). Tickets for the Gala Function are priced at €15, where there will be a buffet and bar, followed by DJ after the presentations, but numbers are limited. Music by DJ Corky.

The Sarsfields golf outing will be a Single Stableford at Loughrea Golf Club with tee times from 11 am to 12 noon on Sat 30th.

Sarsfields Hurling on the Road - the Jimmy Kelly Perpetual Trophy

As part of the Sarsfields 50th Anniversary Celebrations the club are running Sarsfields Hurling on the Road for The Jimmy Kelly Perpetual Trophy.

Time - 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm

Overall winners receive the "Jimmy Kelly Perpetual Trophy"

Prizes for:

1st, 2nd and 3rd teams overall.

Best Camogie team.
